Project overview
A sun-trap lounge for a family of five
The Okafors' villa had the rarest New York asset — a south-facing garden room — buried under mismatched hand-me-downs. They asked for one room where toddlers, teenagers and grandparents could all land comfortably, without the space ever looking chaotic.
The challenge
Forty square metres had to seat eight, hide toys, books and throws, and survive juice, dogs and Sunday naps — while feeling calm enough for evening entertaining.
Our approach
We zoned the room in thirds: a deep bouclé corner for lounging, a vintage rattan reading chair by the glass, and a low oak window bench with lift-up storage. Washable linen, indoor-outdoor rugs and a single warm-neutral palette keep everything forgiving and unified.

Outcome
"They re-planned our whole ground floor around how our family actually lives. Storage everywhere, light everywhere — and the build finished a week early."
